To ask or not to ask, that is the question.

Today I was at Lowes picking up some hardware and noticed something funny. As I was checking out, I watched to computer screen that the cashier was using and there was a field for customer phone number. When the transaction was over, I watched the cashier put a phone number in the “customer” phone number column.

Hmm. Why did the cashier not ask for my phone number? He did not even think about asking. Come to think of it, I have never been asked my phone number at Lowes, or Home Depot. So, if they are not going to ask, why is the question there? And, who is in the corporate office looking at the data, and making decisions on incorrect information? Things that make me go, hmmm.
