Restaurant Review- La Duni, Dallas
After my hot start with my review of Fuse, I have gone dry. But...I am back, and back with a big one. La Duni Latin Cafe on McKinney.
Tonight, Robin and I had a wonderful kid free date night. Well, all date nights are kid free, but it feels so refreshing to just type kid free. Tonight we ventured to one of Robin and I's favorite areas in Dallas, the Knox/Henderson area. After reviewing La Duni's website we decided that we would give it a shot.

La Duni is a Latin American restaurant, so the minute that you walk through the door you are hit with a wonderful aroma of amazing spices, great music of the culture and beautiful latin accents from all the hospitable staff. It was a wonderful and trendy neighborhood environment that calls for hip and casual attire.
The menu is just about perfect because it is so well balanced. It offered many choices for those with an adventurous pallet as well as those who are more on the conservative side. The Latin cuisine had a little Euro flare mixed with Mexican, Nicaragua, Spain, Cuban and even Brazilian. Within the menu we found many mouth watering appetizer options, some lighter choices included salads and sandwiches, 12 fabulous entrees, and delicious looking desserts. The prices were very reasonable and would rate at $$!
Just so you know, most Latin, South American or Mexican restaurants for me quickly get rated by there chips and hot sauce. Well, La Duni did not let me down. The chips were off the hook, and the hot sauce had the kick that I require! Our server was outstanding, however, with her thick accent I could not catch her name; none the less, she was wonderful.
Let's stop down for a minute and talk about the food portions and presentation. Wow! The dishes looked like a work of art. The food presentation was great, and the portions were huge. Big appetites will not be let down at La Duni.
Our choices: Robin | Terry
Beverage: Flavored Iced Tea | Water with an orange wedge
Appetizer: Planton Campero
(Plantains, Queso Fresco, Patacones, Cheese Arepitas, Empanadas, Yucca Fries, Duni Onions and Salsa)
Entree: Enchiladas de Pollo Con Queso | Pabellon Criollo
The food was delicious. A wide assortment of latin flavors that were all wonderful. Looking back, our only poor decision was to eat so much, we did not save room for desert! Huge mistake... The appetizer was out of this world. Robin's favorite was the plantains, and mine was the empanadas. Robin's enchiladas were a work of art, a beautiful presentation and filled with wonderful flavor. My choice was great, not quite the work of art, but the salsa stewed grilled, and hand pulled flank steak was killer.
La Duni was a wonderful choice, I would recommend it anyday!
