Lunch of a Lifetime
Today was a lunch of a lifetime. Funny, it did not have anything to do with the appetizers, it did not have anything to do with the soup, or even the entrée. Today was a lunch of a lifetime for a whole other reason.
Almost five years ago I met a great guy at Fellowship. He was a sales guy who was selling me some type of new technology. Long story short, we really clicked and connected well and I new he was not a Christian, so I invited him to FC. He never came. Fast forward 3 or so years and we connected again with another sales call and again I asked him to come to FC; he never made it. Today, we had lunch and I learned that he has been sober for 5 months after a long and challenging history with drugs and alcohol. This is a guy that looked like he had it all, great looks, great money, great looking wife and on and on….but he was lost, and searching for something.
Today was a lunch of a lifetime. Today God used me to help him make the greatest decision that he could make-- he asked Christ into his life. What a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do. God is teaching me so much and this was just another reminder to stop focusing so much on the peripheral junk and stay focused on the basics.
