Acts 24 - Clear Conscience 

This chapter can be a little deceptive. What I mean, in 27 verses, we read Paul on trial and waiting on some witnesses that have been called to testify. But in the closing verse, in just five words, we read When two years had passed. Whoa, these interactions and conversations between Paul and Felix and his wife Drusilla were going on for two years.

I have so much to process around this, but something else leaped off the screen as I was reading that I want to dive into…

Acts 23 - The Providence of God

Providence is a big word and rather intriguing to me. After reading Acts 23, it was apparent to me that this was the only word that resonated with the chapter, and honestly, the full life of the Apostle Paul. Pastor John Piper had a great article I found on the Providence of God, and he opened it with this:

Acts 22 - Hate

Here in chapter 22, we continue where we left off in 21, where Paul was arrested and taken by the Roman soldiers. Separating Paul from the rioting crowds, the soldiers carried Paul up the steps to deliver him to safety. Paul, wanting to seize the moment, talked the Roman commander into allowing him to address the crowd publicly.

Acts 21 - Faith and Works

Today, two different readings have collided in a significant way. I am reading the book of James with my wife and reading Acts that I am journaling daily about. Today in James, we are in the second half of chapter two, and James is driving home the critical point of faith and works. Check this out:

Acts 20 - To-Do App

I love To-Do Apps. I have tried just about every To-Do App on the market, and I love so many of them. I am sure much of this is in my nature and part of being a strong “J” when it comes to Myers Briggs. I get great fulfillment by checking off things on my list...and yes, I put things on my list just to check them off. I am that guy.

Acts 19 - Act Like It

There are 41 verses in Acts 19, some compelling teaching, and fantastic storylines. This morning I really could not get my mind off of v1-7. This encounter of Paul coming into Ephesus and meeting with some of the local disciples, this encounter is fascinating and so intriguing to me. I think there is so much for us to pull out of this and apply it to our lives. Let’s dive in.

Acts - 18 Fear

Fear. A quick Google search will tell you that fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. Often that belief is accurate, but other times that belief is not real. This is when psychologists label fear as False Evidence Appearing Real. You see, fear can be real, but often fear can just be a mental game.

Acts 17 - Messaging

In Acts 17, we see the continuation of Paul and his crew causing revival, then riot and then ultimately rejection. This cycle follows Paul's mission just about everywhere he goes. The rejection typically leads to crowds attempting to take Paul's life and getting close many times.

In this chapter, we see Paul travel through many towns, Thessalonica, Berea, and then land in Athens.

Acts 16 - Nope

So much great content in Acts 16, but instead of trying to cover it all or bring context to the full chapter, I am going to just focus on two verses that spoke to me this morning.

Acts 15 - Grace Alone

Whenever you find yourself in them, and us discussion remember this, God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. This removes the barrier, the segregation of the great wall of division. There is no them and us; there is we because of the Grace of Jesus Christ. 

Grace abounds, and Jesus is enough. Grace alone!
