Holy Week - Easter Sunday

Holy Week - Easter Sunday

Jesus; liar, lunatic, or the Lord.

C. S. Lewis popularized the argument that Jesus was either a liar or a lunatic or the Lord. Three ways to look at Jesus, and we are faced with a choice to make. As we read in John, chapter 10, we see this choice starring us in the face.

“The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life, so I may take it back again. No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” - ‭‭John‬ ‭10:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus here, claiming I have authority from inside death, as a dead man, to take life back again, when I please. Possibly the greatest claim ever made, landing us in a place to read this and be faced with the liar, lunatic or the Lord question.

Today, Easter Sunday, we celebrate the most significant expression of love.

“He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” - ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:6-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus was not a liar, or a lunatic, Jesus was the Lord! Jesus freely chose to die, nobody forced him to do it. Jesus chose to defeat death and take his life back again. Resurrection Sunday, the greatest expression of love that ever has been shared.

“Jesus heard about it and spoke up, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I’m here inviting outsiders, not insiders—an invitation to a changed life changed inside and out.” - ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:31-32‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Jesus says, come to me, and I will make you well. Living water. Jesus is life; Jesus is love. He is inviting the outsiders, those sick and hurting, and in need of a changed life. Resurrection!

If you are far from God and desiring new life, a life to the full, the power of the resurrection is freely yours to claim. Call on the name of the Lord, offer your whole life to Jesus, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. You will be changed from the inside and out. When you do, you celebrate knowing we joined Jesus in death and new life.

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” - ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. May our lives honor and glorify you, Jesus. Thank you!

He is Risen. Happy Easter.
